Synopsis of Incident:
CCPD Officers were dispatched to the 67300 block of East Palm Canyon Drive regarding a single-vehicle traffic collision. Officers arrived and discovered the driver of the vehicle was deceased at the scene. Traffic investigators responded to the scene to assume the investigation.
A red Toyota sedan was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when the driver drifted off the roadway. The vehicle hit a Southern California Edison power pole and rolled over. The power pole and power lines were knocked down. At this time it is not known if drugs or alcohol was a factor in this collision.
East and westbound lanes were closed while Southern California Edison made the scene safe and traffic investigators completed their investigation. East Palm Canyon was reopened at 0845 hours.
The identity of the driver is being withheld until the Riverside County Coroner’s Office notifies the driver’s next of kin.
