Synopsis of Incident:
On Thursday, April 13, 2023, Officers responded to the intersection of Tortuga Rd/ Date Palm Dr. regarding a single-vehicle roll-over collision. On arrival, officers determined the vehicle struck a power pole on the west side of the road severing the pole at the base. Officers immediately closed off Date Palm Dr. in both directions (north and south) and had CCFD Paramedics tend to the driver. The driver was extricated and transported to Desert Hospital with moderate injuries to lower extremities. The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Southern California Edison (SCE) is on scene to replace the power pole. Date Palm Drive will remain closed for about 4 hours until the power lines and pole are rendered safe. Per Edison, the damage should not affect service the neighborhood or surrounding businesses. All traffic on Date Pam Dr. has been diverted at Tachevah Dr and Tortuga. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes of travel to avoid traffic delays.
