Press Release-2305C-3501-Missing Person

On May 22, 2023 at about 2037 hours, the Cathedral City Police Department was called to the residence regarding a missing elder adult. The roommate reported Richard missing to the police after he had not returned home for several hours.  The roommate last saw him at the residence on the morning of May 22, 2023 at about 1030 hours.  Richard has left the residence in the past but returns after a few hours. He does not have a cellular phone or means of communicating with friends.

Fatal Traffic Crash Case #2305c-2070 Press Release

On May 14, 2023, at approximately 0607 hours, Cathedral City Fire responded to a call of a male on the ground with head injuries. When Cathedral City Fire arrived, the male was in full arrest, and Paramedics noticed injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Cathedral City Police responded and, upon arriving, found evidence of a hit-and-run traffic crash. Paramedics could not revive the male, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

2304C-4757: Assault with a Deadly Weapon

On Sunday, April 30th, 2023, at approximately 1635 hours, a Sunline bus was traveling from Palm Desert to Palms Springs. While traveling, the driver noticed a young male passenger smoking something near the rear of the bus. The driver announced over the pa system for the male to stop, but the male refused. At the next scheduled stop in Cathedral City (B Street transfer area), the driver requested the assistance of another driver to help with having the male exit the bus.

Injury/Traffic Collision 2304C-2100 Press Release

On Thursday, April 13, 2023, Officers responded to the intersection of Tortuga Rd/ Date Palm Dr. regarding a single-vehicle roll-over collision. On arrival, officers determined the vehicle struck a power pole on the west side of the road severing the pole at the base. Officers immediately closed off Date Palm Dr. in both directions (north and south) and had CCFD Paramedics tend to the driver. The driver was extricated and transported to Desert Hospital with moderate injuries to lower extremities. The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Arrest of Outstanding Kidnapping Suspect / 2106C-0059

On March 24, 2023, at approximately 0900 hours, Cathedral City Police Dispatch received a tip from a citizen reference a suspect who had failed to appear in court for his recent court case. The suspect was identified as Eduardo Luis Espinoza, a 33-year-old Cathedral City resident. Espinoza had been arrest in connection with a robbery/kidnapping from June of 2021. Espinoza failed to appear in court on Tuesday for the kidnapping case and an arrest warrant was issued for his arrest.

2302C-4473 / 2302C-6139 Search Warrant/ Assault/ Robbery investigation

On Thursday March 9, 2023, at approximately 0700 hours, Cathedral City Detectives executed a search warrant in the 28000 block of Landau Blvd. in the City of Cathedral City. The warrant was regarding a past assault and robbery that occurred at the Cimmaron Golf course and the Desert Princess Community clubhouse. Two juveniles were arrested for the mentioned crimes and transported to Indio Juvenile Hall.

Cove Burglaries

On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at approximately 0930 hours, Cathedral City Detectives executed a search warrant in the 68500 block of ‘C’ Street in the City of Cathedral City.  The warrant was regarding an increase in residential burglaries in the Cove area.  Detectives located/recovered stolen property, weapons, and other items linking the suspects to burglaries in this area.
