Chiefs Message June 2020

The death of Mr. George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police Officers is shocking, disturbing, and of great concern to all of us in Law Enforcement. His death was preventable and should not have happened. Our officers, like others across the country are feeling the burden of this incident. Our officers see this as a betrayal of their commitment to fairness and the trust we work hard to earn. We will continue to put our energy into building relationships in the community while ensuring that our policies, practices, and oversight are worthy of the community’s trust.

A message from Police Chief George Crum:

As our community has been adjusting to a new normal in our personal and professional lives, I would like to provide the community with an update on the homicides that have occurred in 2020. I know the three recent homicides reported in the media are concerning to our community.  As your Police Chief, I understand your concerns and it is the position of the Police Department that any one violent crime happening in Cathedral City is one too many.

Community Update

Today is my final day as Chief of Police as I am retiring after a thirty year career in Law Enforcement. In December 2014, I began my duties as your Police Chief in Cathedral City. I must say the time has gone by extremely quick and I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with all of the hard working, dedicated and devoted men and women within all City Departments and your Police Department.
