Synopsis of Incident

On April 6, 2022, at about 8:06 PM, the Cathedral City Fire Department responded to a residence in the 28800 block of Avenida La Vista regarding a residential fire alarm. Other nearby residences also began calling regarding smoke seen coming from the residence.

Upon arrival to the residence, Cathedral City Fire Department personnel observed smoke and fire from the residence and requested the assistance of the Palm Springs Fire Department and Riverside County Fire Department. As fire personnel were extinguishing the fire within the residence, they observed a male subject who was deceased.

After the residence was cleared by the fire department, Cathedral City Police personnel began their investigation. Based upon the information obtained and initial investigation, it was determined the male subject committed suicide and intentionally set the home ablaze. No other persons were located in the residence and no other injuries were reported.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Coroner Bureau responded to the scene to complete their investigation.
