VICTIM INFORMATION:
Name: Ernesto Lazcano Arroyo
Age: 31 YO
City of Residence: Cathedral City


Synopsis of Incident:
On August 6, 2023, at approximately 2331 hours, Cathedral City Police responded to 32400 Date Palm Dr., (Applebee’s Grill & Bar) regarding a fight involving numerous subjects inside the business. During the altercation, one subject pulled out a firearm and shot the victim. Officers arrived and located the male victim inside the business. Cathedral City Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The scene was secured, and CCPD Detectives assumed the investigation. Several interviews were conducted, and the area was canvassed. Search warrants were authored, and Detectives worked several leads.

CCPD Detectives worked with the Riverside County Gang Impact Team to conduct surveillance at a residence 69100 block of Dinah Shore Drive and Willie R. Bustamante DOB 03/05/1990 (Cathedral City resident) was arrested for the homicide. A search warrant was executed at his residence. Willie Bustamante was later booked into the Larry D. Smith Detention Center for murder. Antonio Portillo DOB 4/14/93 (Cathedral City resident) was also arrested for the homicide. A search warrant was executed at his residence. Antonio Portillo was later booked into the John J. Benoit Detention Center for murder. No booking photos are available at the time of this press release.
