Synopsis of Incident:
On August 28, 2023, at approximately 3:15 AM, Cathedral City Police Department (CCPD) officers were dispatched to the area of Cathedral Canyon, south of Dinah Shore regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle versus a bicyclist. Upon arrival, officers located the bicyclist, an adult male lying in the roadway with severe injuries. The male subject was unresponsive. Cathedral City Fire Department responded to the scene, provided aid and transported him to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The vehicle involved in this collision left the scene prior to police arriving. The Cathedral City Police Department is investigating the collision and following up on leads to identify the driver/vehicle who fled the scene. Northbound and southbound traffic on Cathedral Canyon between Dinah Shore and Paseo Real was closed for several hours. All lanes of travel have been re-opened.
