Synopsis of Incident:
On September 4, 2022, at approximately 0600 hours, Cathedral City Police officers responded to a traffic crash involving two vehicles and a pedestrian near the intersection of Ramon Road and Canyon Vista Road. Cathedral City Fire also responded and found the male pedestrian to have succumbed to his injuries.
Based on statements collected a vehicle was traveling eastbound on Ramon Road during the hours of darkness when a pedestrian crossed the roadway outside of a crosswalk and was struck by the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle immediately pulled over and called 911. While calling 911 the driver witnessed a second vehicle strike the pedestrian and flee the scene. The driver of vehicle 1 stayed on scene and cooperated with police and no drugs or alcohol appear to be a factor at this time. The fleeing vehicle was described as a light gray or silver SUV, no further description of second vehicle was provided. Investigation ongoing in locating the second vehicle.
