1312C-3125

On Friday, December 13, 2013, at 8:31 p.m., Cathedral City Police Officers were dispatched to the area of San Gabriel Circle and Santa Barbara Drive in the Dream Homes neighborhood, for gunfire heard in the area.  Officers arrived and began to search for any signs of a crime. When officers approached the entrance to the Agua Caliente Park, they noticed a body lying on the ground and noted there were no signs of life.  The male, later identified as Jorge “George” Reina, was deceased.

Jorge was 33 years old and lived just a couple of houses away from the scene.  Jorge lived at this address his whole life with his mother and father.  Jorge was well known throughout the neighborhood and was well liked.  Jorge worked with his father doing gardening to make extra money.

At 8 p.m. on the night of the homicide Jorge was last heard in front of the residence.  This was about 30 minutes prior to hearing the gunfire. Immediately after hearing the gunfire Jorge’s father went out front to look for Jorge, but he was not there.

The public is encouraged to call the Cathedral City Police Department with any further information regarding this case at (760) 770-0300 or by email at tips@cathedralcity.gov.
