Synopsis of Incident
On Saturday 12/15/18 at 1746 hours, Cathedral City Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of East Palm Canyon Drive and Perez Rd. regarding a traffic collision. Officers arrived and determined that a traffic collision involving an SUV and a male on a motorcycle had just occurred, approximately 100 feet west of the intersection. Officers determined the motorcyclist was traveling west on East Palm Canyon Dr. He had just passed through the intersection on Perez Rd. when he collided with a motorist merging from the parking lot of 7-11 (located at 67990 East Palm Canyon Dr.) into the roadway.
Cathedral City Fire Department paramedics arrived to assist and render emergency medical aid. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist was deceased upon the arrival of paramedics. The driver – who shall remain unnamed due to the ongoing traffic accident investigation – remained at the scene. Cathedral City Police Traffic collision investigators arrived and conducted a collision investigation. Traffic was rerouted for a short period of time.
The Riverside County Coroner arrived on scene and completed their investigation which included recovering the deceased. They have released the name of the deceased (above). Please contact the Riverside County Coroner’s Office for more information regarding their investigation. Again, at this time, the collision is still under investigation and no other information is available.
