On Sunday, January 17, 2016, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Cathedral City Police Officers were dispatched to 33600 block of Cathedral Canyon Road regarding a gunshot victim.
Upon arrival, officers saw a male subject seated in what appeared to be a lawn chair inside an open garage. When officers approached the entrance to the garage, they noted the male had no signs of life, and determined he was deceased. The male was later identified as 21-year-old Arnulfo Rubio, a resident at the location.
At the time of the homicide, Arnulfo was inside the garage socializing when he was shot. Arnulfo and his roommate, a high school friend, had lived at the residence for approximately four months.
