On October 4, 2019, at approximately 2315 hours, Cathedral City Police Dispatch received multiple 911 telephone calls reporting gunshots in the 32500 Block of Navajo Trail, Cathedral City. More calls to the police were received at 2316 reporting a shooting incident at that location.  Cathedral City Police responded to the area (arriving at 2320 hours) and found two adult males on a residential sidewalk, suffering from an unknown number of gunshot wounds.  Cathedral City Fire Department Paramedics responded to assist, began emergency-medical treatment and transported both shooting victims to Desert Regional Medical Center (DRMC).  Unfortunately, one of the victims has succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and has been pronounced deceased.

Cathedral City Police Detectives were notified and have responded to the crime scene and to DRMC.  The Riverside County Sheriff/Coroner Office has been notified to respond to DRMC to conduct their investigation.  At this time, the incident is being investigation as a homicide and the investigation is in progress.

The victim has been identified as a 23-year old Desert Hot Springs resident.  He has been identified by law enforcement; however, his identity will not be released at this time, pending the Riverside County Coroner’s Investigation and formal verifications and notifications to family.

Again, this investigation is still in progress and there are some road closures in the area.  No more information is available / will be released at this time.
