CCPD’s First Police Cadet Sworn In

Martinez Swearing In

August 3, 2015 1030 hrs. The Cathedral City Police Department’s first Police Cadet was sworn in this morning amid support from family and friends. Abraham Martinez, a former Police Explorer Scout and Cathedral City High School graduate, will work part-time and attend college as part of the CCPD Cadet Program. CCPD Chief George Crum instituted the program to help develop young adults into public service by exposing them, in a controlled support role, to the various aspects of police work.

Cadet Martinez, and eventually five other cadets, will work approximately 16 hrs per week in various areas of the police department. Some of these areas will include Logistics, Dispatch, Records, and Investigations. Cadets must be 18-23 years old, and carry at least 9 units towards a degree. Cadet Martinez will be working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
