Robbery Investigation – Four juvenile suspects arrested / #2008C-8601

On August 31, 2020, at approx. 1400 hours, Cathedral City Police Department (CCPD) officers were dispatched to the 31700 block of Date Palm regarding four masked suspects that entered the business and forcefully took display cases with numerous cellular phones attached. Store employees were scared and made no attempt to stop the suspects as they fled the store with merchandise. The suspects ran to a blue newer Mustang with no vehicle license plates that was awaiting near a business. Store employees called the police 911 system and provided the suspect’s vehicle information and direction of travel, North bound on Date Palm toward Vista Chino.

Cathedral City Police Department Press Release

Homicide Investigation / #2008C-1558

On August 6, 2020, at approximately 2129 hours, Cathedral City Police Department (CCPD) officers were dispatched to Century Park located at 30555 Davall Drive, Cathedral City regarding a physical altercation. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with life threatening injuries. The Cathedral City Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Cathedral City Police Department Press Release

Press Release CR #2008C-2348

On August 9, 2020, at approximately 2119 hours, Cathedral City Police Department (CCPD) officers were dispatched to the area of 68500 McCallum Road regarding numerous reports of shots being fired in the area. One witness informed CCPD that the suspect was firing a shotgun over residential rooftops. Officers arrived on scene and through witness accounts and their initial investigation, discovered the gunfire came from a residence in the 68500 block of McCallum Road. Officers surrounded the residence and made numerous loudspeaker announcements requesting the suspect exit the residence. The suspect refused to exit the residence and barricaded inside.

Chiefs Message June 2020

The death of Mr. George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police Officers is shocking, disturbing, and of great concern to all of us in Law Enforcement. His death was preventable and should not have happened. Our officers, like others across the country are feeling the burden of this incident. Our officers see this as a betrayal of their commitment to fairness and the trust we work hard to earn. We will continue to put our energy into building relationships in the community while ensuring that our policies, practices, and oversight are worthy of the community’s trust.
